Siwan House Explosion in Bihar: Multiple Deaths Reported After Firecrackers Blast, Rescue Operation Underway

Siwan, Bihar | October 23, 2026: A powerful explosion at a house storing firecrackers in Alampur village, under the Jamo police station area of Bihar’s Siwan district, triggered panic on Friday. The blast severely damaged the building, with the front portion collapsing onto the road.

According to initial media reports, the explosion occurred after firecrackers stored inside the house caught fire. Several people were reportedly killed or injured. Siwan Superintendent of Police Bharat Soni confirmed four deaths in an initial statement, while some subsequent reports carried higher casualty figures.

Repeated Explosions Continue for Nearly Two Hours

The incident caused panic among residents as explosions reportedly continued intermittently for around two hours. The presence of a large quantity of firecrackers inside the property is believed to have contributed to the repeated blasts after the fire broke out.

The force of the explosion damaged the structure, scattering debris onto the adjoining road. Residents rushed outside after hearing the loud blasts, while emergency responders reached the area to assist with rescue efforts.

Firecrackers Stored Inside Residential Property

Preliminary reports identified the property as the house of Mohammad Amiruddin Miyan, who was described in local reports as a firecracker trader. Several people were reportedly inside the house when the incident occurred.

The precise circumstances that led to the fire and subsequent explosions have not yet been conclusively established in the available reports.

Rescue Efforts and Casualty Assessment

Police and emergency teams were involved in rescue operations following the blast. The extent of the building damage and the continuing danger from the explosions complicated the response.

Reports regarding the total number of fatalities have varied. While the Siwan SP initially confirmed four deaths, some later reports suggested the toll could be higher. The final number of victims and their identities should be confirmed through an official update.

Investigation Into the Cause of the Blast

Authorities are expected to examine how the fire started, the quantity of firecrackers stored at the property and whether the required licences and safety regulations were being followed.

The incident has renewed concerns about the risks associated with storing or handling fireworks in residential buildings. Further official information is awaited regarding the cause of the explosion, the casualties and any action taken by the authorities.
