1. Dr. Rajendra Prasad
   Hailing from Zeradai in Bihar’s Siwan district, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was not only a lawyer but also held the distinction of being India’s inaugural President. He dedicated himself to teaching in various educational institutions and emerged as a prominent leader from Bihar within the Indian National Congress. His remarkable contributions were recognized with the prestigious Bharat Ratna in 1962.

1. Ustad Bismillah Khan
   Originally hailing from Dumraon, Bihar, Ustad Bismillah Khan relocated to Varanasi, where he spent his formative years. Recognized as one of the world’s finest musicians, he is celebrated for popularizing the shehnai and elevating it to the forefront of classical music. In 2001, he was honored with the Bharat Ratna. In homage to Ustad Bismillah Khan, the Bihar Government has unveiled plans for establishing a museum, a town hall doubling as a library, and the installation of a life-sized statue at his birthplace in Dumraon.

   Jayaprakash Narayan, widely known as JP or Lok Nayak, was born in the village of Sitabdiara in Bihar’s Saran District, now referred to as Chapra. He was not only an Indian independence activist and social reformer but also a prominent political leader. His most notable role was leading the opposition against Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the mid-1970s, where he advocated for a “total revolution” to compel her to step down from office, ultimately resulting in the declaration of Emergency.

In recognition of his significant contributions, he was posthumously honored with the Bharat Ratna in 1999, and the Patna airport was named after him. Interestingly, his demise was announced in Parliament before his actual passing.

4. Ramdhari Singh Dinkar
   Hailing from the village of Simaria in Begusarai, Ramdhari Singh “Dinkar” was a renowned Indian Hindi poet and scholar, recognized as one of the foremost Hindi poets of the contemporary era. He earned the title of “Rashtrakavi” for his patriotic verses penned before India’s independence. Serving three terms in the Rajya Sabha, he received the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 1959 and was also honored with a Sahitya Akademi Award in the same year.

   Jagjivan Ram, affectionately known as Babuji, was a prominent Indian politician and social reformer. Born on April 5, 1908, in Chandwa, Bihar, he belonged to a Dalit family and experienced firsthand the challenges of India’s caste-based society, which fueled his lifelong commitment to social justice.
