Among other castes, voters from the Prasad community number 30,529 (9.8%). In addition, there is a sizable presence of Shah, Yadav, Chaudhary, and Takkar surname groups.
What Happened in Previous Elections?
In the 2020 Assembly election, RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) candidate Awadh Bihari Choudhary won the seat with 76,785 votes. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Om Prakash Yadav came second, and independent candidate Vinod Kumar Srivastava secured third place. In the 2015 Assembly election, BJP’s Vyasdev Prasad won with 55,156 votes, while JDU’s Bablu Prasad was runner-up, and Awadh Bihari Choudhary (running as an independent) was third. From 2005 to 2015, the BJP held this seat, but in 2020 the RJD candidate clinched victory.
