This article offers a comprehensive overview of the Siwan Assembly constituency as Bihar gears up for the 2025 elections. It highlights the key political players, including traditional parties like RJD, BJP, and Congress, as well as the emerging Jan Suraaj Party. The article analyzes the caste-wise voter distribution, especially the significant influence of Muslim voters, and reviews past election results to shed light on changing political fortunes and expectations for the upcoming polls.

Siwan Assembly Constituency:
Siwan is one of Bihar’s 243 Assembly constituencies and is categorized as a general seat. Located in Siwan district, it is one of the six Assembly segments under the Siwan parliamentary constituency. Notably, this election features Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party as a contestant; the party plans to contest all 243 Assembly seats in Bihar, making this election especially interesting.

Caste Equation and Voters:
As per the 2020 Assembly election data, the total number of voters in the Siwan constituency is 311,523. The seat has a significant presence of certain communities, particularly Muslim voters whose numbers are decisive. There are 80,372 Muslim voters—accounting for 25.8% of the electorate. Among other castes, voters from the Prasad community number 30,529 (9.8%). In addition, there is a sizable presence of Shah, Yadav, Chaudhary, and Takkar surname groups.

What Happened in Previous Elections?
In the 2020 Assembly election, RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) candidate Awadh Bihari Choudhary won the seat with 76,785 votes. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Om Prakash Yadav came second, and independent candidate Vinod Kumar Srivastava secured third place. In the 2015 Assembly election, BJP’s Vyasdev Prasad won with 55,156 votes, while JDU’s Bablu Prasad was runner-up, and Awadh Bihari Choudhary (running as an independent) was third. From 2005 to 2015, the BJP held this seat, but in 2020 the RJD candidate clinched victory.
