Bihar Board 2026 Matric Exams Begin With Over 15 Lakh Students, Tight Security in Place

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has commenced the annual Class 10 (Matric) board exams for 2026, with the examinations running from February 17 to February 25 across the state. This year, a massive 15.12 lakh students — including more than 7.85 lakh girls and 7.26 lakh boys — are expected to participate in one of Bihar’s largest secondary examinations.

The exams are being conducted at 1,699 designated centres throughout Bihar in two daily shifts. The first shift runs from 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM, and the second from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, with strict adherence to reporting times. Students have been instructed to arrive well before the gates close, and late entry is not permitted.

To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the exams, BSEB has put in place multiple security and support measures. A dedicated 24/7 control room has been established to provide real-time assistance to students, parents, and administrative officials throughout the examination period. The control room became operational on February 16 and will remain active until February 25. Two helpline numbers have also been provided for easy access to support.

Anand Kishore, Chairman of the Bihar School Examination Board, has instructed district officials, police superintendents and education officers to maintain a peaceful and malpractice-free environment across all centres. A zero-tolerance policy is in effect, with authorities and flying squads monitoring exam venues to curb any attempts at unfair practices.

BSEB has taken additional steps to manage logistical challenges associated with such a large number of candidates. Students are required to carry their admit cards and valid ID proofs, and all exam centres are enforcing strict protocols for entry. Unauthorized items such as mobile phones, smart watches and other electronic devices are prohibited from exam halls.

The Bihar Matric exams are a critical academic milestone for students, determining eligibility for higher secondary education and shaping future academic opportunities. With extensive planning and oversight, the BSEB aims to uphold the integrity and smooth conduct of this essential evaluation for students across the state.
