Madhubani: A City of Art and Culture

Madhubani is an ancient city in the state of Bihar in India. It is known for its richness in art and culture, especially the world-popular Madhubani paintings.

The city is mentioned in the Ramayana, and is believed to be the birthplace of Sita, the wife of Lord Rama.

Madhubani emerged from the Darbhanga district of Bihar in 1972 during the reshuffling of territorial boundaries. It is a small district but is slowly growing as a popular tourist destination among art enthusiasts coming here for Madhubani paintings.
