‘Chhathi Maiya’ Song from The Vvaan: Vishal Mishra’s Soulful Track Brings Bihar’s Chhath Tradition to the Big Screen

The makers of The Vvaan: Force of the Forest have unveiled “Chhathi Maiya,” a devotional song that brings the faith, emotion and cultural richness of Chhath Puja into the world of mainstream Hindi cinema. The track features Tamannaah Bhatia and Sidharth Malhotra and has been sung and composed by Vishal Mishra, with lyrics by Kaushal Kishore.

The song arrives ahead of the film’s theatrical release on September 25, 2026, and has already attracted considerable attention online. The film’s makers have used the festival not merely as a visual backdrop but as an important emotional element within the story.

Tamannaah’s character turns to Chhath amid a crisis

The music video presents Tamannaah Bhatia’s character performing Chhath Puja with deep faith and determination. Despite opposition from Sidharth Malhotra’s character, she remains committed to observing the festival and seeking the blessings of Chhathi Maiya.

The visuals capture several familiar elements of the festival, including devotees gathering at the ghat and women participating in the rituals. Sidharth’s character is also shown taking part in the traditional Kosi Bharna ritual. The story eventually takes a dramatic turn when Tamannaah meets with an accident, followed by an extraordinary event that changes the couple’s perspective on faith.

A celebration of Bihar’s cultural identity

Chhath Puja holds a particularly deep cultural and emotional significance across Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. Unlike many festival sequences in commercial cinema, “Chhathi Maiya” places the rituals and devotion associated with the festival at the centre of its narrative.

The song also connects the festival with The Vvaan’s larger folklore-driven world. The film combines fantasy, mystery, adventure and elements of mythology, with its story revolving around a mysterious forest and an ancient supernatural force.

For audiences familiar with Chhath, the song may also stand out because of its emphasis on collective devotion. The festival is known for its disciplined rituals, offerings to the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, and the strong emotional participation of entire families and communities.

Vishal Mishra gives the song a devotional character

Vishal Mishra has lent both his voice and musical composition to the track. His rendition gives “Chhathi Maiya” a soulful and spiritual character, while Kaushal Kishore’s lyrics complement the devotional mood. Chinni Prakash has choreographed the song.

The song has also generated an emotional response on social media, with viewers appreciating the attempt to bring Chhath and Bihar’s cultural traditions into a large Hindi-film production.

The Vvaan releases on September 25

Directed by Arunabh Kumar, The Vvaan: Force of the Forest stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles, alongside actors including Sunil Grover, Maniesh Paul, Shweta Tiwari and Anup Soni. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 25, 2026.

With “Chhathi Maiya,” the film has added a strong cultural and spiritual dimension to its promotional campaign. For many viewers, particularly those connected to Bihar and the Chhath tradition, the song could become one of the film’s most emotionally resonant elements.
