In the 2015 Assembly election, BJP’s Vyasdev Prasad won with 55,156 votes, while JDU’s Bablu Prasad was runner-up, and Awadh Bihari Choudhary (running as an independent) was third. From 2005 to 2015, the BJP held this seat, but in 2020 the RJD candidate clinched victory.
